It started to make sense when I heard it put together with a Bible story many folk like to joke about.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Didact Gothic', sans-serif; color: #800080; font-size: medium;\">The story of Abraham and Isaac has become such an easy a target for comics it is almost a \u2018take my wife please\u2019 fall back when they start to lose the crowd. Dad makes the kid schlep a load of wood up the mountain. God tells Dad to tie the boy up <span style=\"color: #800000;\">and<\/span> toss him on the wood but just before that final cut, an angel appears with the old testament equivalent of \u2019April Fool!\u2026I was just kidding.\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Didact Gothic', sans-serif; color: #800080; font-size: medium;\">&#8220;And we laughed\u2026.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Didact Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #800080;\">The zen light bulb moment is that God&#8217;s trust in Abraham didn&#8217;t change but Abraham&#8217;s sure did.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/suddenalarm.blaseckie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Carravagio-Isaac-sacrifice-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3679\" src=\"http:\/\/suddenalarm.blaseckie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Carravagio-Isaac-sacrifice-copy-300x213.jpg\" alt=\"Carravagio Isaac sacrifice copy\" width=\"300\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/suddenalarm.blaseckie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Carravagio-Isaac-sacrifice-copy-300x213.jpg 300w, https:\/\/suddenalarm.blaseckie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Carravagio-Isaac-sacrifice-copy.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Didact Gothic', sans-serif; color: #800080; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0I\u2019ve watched my girls walk face first into walls I warned them about because I still have the dents on my nose from those same bricks.
