What, Monday again? I thought we just had one…

Welcome to Monday and once again, it’s time for Meet Me on Monday

Those of you playing along with the home game will remember there are 5 questions following the icon which are to be answered and then I do the link up thing with Java’s Never Growing Old Blog.

So, the Icon, to make this official:

Questions:

1.  What is your favorite bagel flavor?
2.  If you had an extra $100 right now, what would you spend it on?
3.  What is the last thing that you felt guilt about doing?
4.  Soft serve ice cream or hand dipped?
5.  Are you allergic to anything?

And now, my answers…

1. I am a traditionalist in that I like Montreal style, chewy on the outside, chewy on the inside, dense bagels. I could be cute and say the best were the ones I made myself but I only did that once so it hardly counts as favorite. When in doubt, I go for the cinnamon raisin bagel, toasted with just butter…but if there is a little schmear available, like herb and garlic cream cheese or some lox and cream cheese, then I reach for the standard sesame or poppy seed (either will do because, really, they are the same thing, just different seeds–it’s like saying vanilla ice cream with chocolate sprinkles is a different vanilla ice cream from vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles even if it comes out of the same carton).

2. This is going to sound lame I know but I really need some new baking pans, so 2 loaf pans – nice heavy weight ones, like Langostina; a couple of new cookie sheets (well, jelly roll pans, technically because of the edge) and 2 new muffin pans. I bought a silicone muffin pan and was not impressed so back to the old school style. Yeah, I warned you, lame.

3. Let’s see, are you talking about today or over the past week or within a year? What level of guilt? Picking my nose in the car guilt, backing into the neighbour’s car guilt or, what does this switch do, crap, there goes Australia guilt? I’m Catholic so I always carry a little spare guilt at all times just in case someone else looks like they’re having a good time and need that touch of remorse to make it extra special.

4. Oh honey, any ice cream is good. On our wedding day while we waited to meet the photographer at Beacon Hill park, we stopped at the Beacon Drive-In for soft serve cones…My first memory of Rome is walking out of a gelateria the night we arrived and seeing the Coliseum at the end of the street.  Amarena (sour cherry) and Bacio (hazelnut chocolate).

5. I used to have a few allergies, mostly grass pollens but not so much anymore. Odd how that works. I do still get itchy ears if I have too much honey but only if it’s local. Greek or Turkish honey doesn’t cause the same reaction because the plants are different. So far that is one of the few check marks in the positive side of physical effects of, um, maturing gracefully.

Ta-Da…

And a Happy Victoria Day. I may not be a true blue monarchist but over the years on this holiday I’ve toasted her Majesty’s memory many times and got quite toasted myself…So, as soon as the sun is over the yardarm, splice the mainbrace and raise a tot to the old tart girl…The Queen!
